Birthday Bash week welcomes Joanne C Berroa

This week is my birthday and I am celebrating by having some of my fellow Rebel Ink Press authors come on over for the Birthday Bash party in honor of another spectacular year.

Today I welcome Joanne C. Berroa as my guest.

Joanne What is your favorite way to celebrate a happy personal event?

There must be tears. Always a happy cry or two, then lots of food. I like to celebrate by going out to a favorite restaurant and indulging on dessert afterward. Dessert is something I usually limit, so on special events I let go and order the most decadent chocolate cake and vanilla ice cream I can find! Death by chocolate, LOL. But aside from all else, I have to have my family with me. A special celebration wouldn’t be a celebration at all if my family didn’t share it. Let me finish by wishing you, Eden, a very happy birthday filled with family and friends and another year of good health and good fortune.

Thank you Joanne! I feel blessed at this juncture in my life. I hope for many more happy years with my partner and family, my human kids as well as furry ones. I’m getting used to being an emptynest mom with all the kids scattered around the world. And of course many more years writing sizzling hot stories that Rebel Ink Press presents to the world.

BIO:

I’ve been writing all my life. Back in 1983, Dell published my novel, “The Barbary Coasters.”  It was set during the 1860’s in the Barbary Coast of San Francisco and was part of a series of books written by different authors called, “The Making of America.” My pseudonym was Lee Davis Willoughby.

I’ve written articles for several computer magazines over the last thirty years doing software and hardware reviews and ads.  I was also a photographer for cover art for two magazines back in the 80’s, and currently write profiles for businesses and professionals for Micromedia Publications, a local newspaper publisher.

Rebel Ink Press has released four of my historical romances thus far: My Life, My Heart – a time travel–reincarnation novel, On Angels’ Wings – a love triangle novel set during the turbulent years of World War II, Love’s Sweet Vengeance – love and danger set in the old west in 1866, and The Diamond Cross (coming Nov. 17, 2013)– a sweeping romance saga taking place in the late 19th century in Hungary, New York and Saratoga Springs. Also in the works are two shorter “novellas” to be released in early 2014. All current novels are available in both eBook and print formats from Amazon.com.

In my “spare” time I also teach piano and organ.

When you pair a beautiful, smart, and independent lady sheriff in New Mexico Territory  with a virile bounty hunter, you get sizzling chemistry, even though they’re at odds with each other and their objectives. Garrett Wade and Amanda Larson form a truce to track down Clem Jones, a notorious outlaw who’s responsible for Garrett’s wife’s brutal murder. Amanda, a lawman first and foremost, wants to bring Jones in for a fair trial, while Garrett wants only revenge—his style. Their quest leads them into mortal danger while a powerful lust brings them together in ways neither bargained for. If only they can survive the treacherous Superstition Mountains and hostile Apaches while exacting justice on Clem Jones, they might have a chance to nurture their lust into an abiding love.

Author Spotlight – Welcome Joanne C. Berroa

Joanne was my guest back in December. I fell in love with her Time Travel Romance “My Life, My Heart”. She had a new book release on 02/03/13 and I invited her here today to tell us about the new story and a little bit more about herself.  Here’s Joanne:

For On Angels’ Wings:

1. For On Angels’ Wings: Lt. Johnny Morgan is my favorite character in this book. He’s daring and a risk taker. He’s not afraid to go over the top, thus his passion for flying fighter planes during WW II.  He loves deeply despite all odds. He’s the kind of man a woman would entrust with her heart.

2.  I get inspiration from imagining what type of man I would want to meet and ultimately marry. It’s fun to “create” life and take him from point A to point B.

3.  When I’m not writing (which is seldom) I teach piano and organ. I’ve been doing that for forty years.

4.  On Angels’ Wings is a WW II romance and a historical romance. Like my other novel, My Life, My Heart, the heat level is sensual and around 3.5.

5.  Two of my English teachers told me to make writing my life’s work. I won essay contests early on, but was always timid about reading my essays in front of the class. When I began writing full length romances, I’d make my mother read the chapters as I wrote them. She was hardly an unbiased critic, however, as she loved everything I wrote! That spurred me onward and I haven’t stopped putting out stories.

Blurb for On Angels’ Wings:

December 1940 found the world on the brink of a conflict greater than it had yet known, but for Anne Miller, USO band singer, the days before Pearl Harbor find her world full of excitement and promise. She had left the comfort of family and friends in Washington, DC to venture out into the distant and beautiful Hawaiian landscape to make a new life for herself and her fiancé, Corporal Daniel Beiler of the American Army forces.

Little did she know her perfect world was just an illusion. She didn’t expect to fall in love with a Navy pilot she’d meet at the USO dancehall on the eve of  “the day that will live in infamy.”  Her love for Daniel would be threatened while she fought with new and strange emotions for the brave and reckless Lieutenant Johnny Morgan.  How could she love both men, although quite differently, and remain true to either?  Will the outbreak of WWII tear their lives apart or pull them together in rain drenched islands in the South Pacific?

On Angels’ Wings is a story of desperation, hope, and fulfillment during the tumultuous years of World War II.

Author Spotlight – Welcome Joanne C. Berroa

Hello everyone. I met Joanne C. Berroa through my Publisher, Rebel Ink Press. I was pleased to learn more about her to share with you guys today. I find her to be a very talented, interesting woman.  Here’s Joanne C. Berroa:

1.  For My Life, My Heart My favorite character is definitely Sebastian. He’s smart, sexy, and important. He’s a Colonel with the Continental Army and is in every way in command of himself and his men. He’s been hurt by his family and his ex-fiance, but he survived despite being outcast. He is protective of the heroine (Elena) and loves deeply and when he gives his heart, he is totally and forever committed. He’s the epitome of the ultimate man.

2.  I get inspired for my stories by imaging a time and place I would have liked to live. I think of myself as the heroine and then develop the ideal man for “me.”

3.  My late husband Paul R. Rothweiler was a multi-published author and we spent the days writing side by side. It was a very good time in my life.

4.  My Life, My Heart is a time travel romance, but could also be classified as a historical romance or contemporary romance. I write sensual romances, so I’d put the heat level at about 3.5.

5.  I began writing science fiction at age 12 and moved to romances at age 19. I always felt compelled to tell stories.

My Life, My Heart Blurb:

How does a brilliant and independent woman from the 21st century fall in love with a dashing colonel in the 18th century?  How can that love survive the test of time to live on through three centuries?

Elena Martin is a beautiful and intelligent time traveler who experiences the kind of love one only reads about in novels when she finds herself back in time during the American Revolution.  Sebastian Rogers is a ruggedly handsome colonel in the Continental Army who sweeps her off her feet.  Faced with the daunting decision to stay forever in the past or go forward in time to the present, she makes the ultimate decision for the sake of love to stay and forge a life with Sebastian.

But there are dark clouds on their horizon and Elena soon finds the need to return to her own century where she is strangely drawn to another man, Brett Darby, her Princeton University professor.  Brett harbors an unsettling secret—he can see and feel things that can’t be explained by reason or logic.  What powers do Elena and Brett hold over each other and why are their lives irrevocably intertwined?

My Life, My Heart is a novel that leaves the reader feeling good about love, life, and death.  It’s a story about endurance, hope, and a love so strong it defies time.
