Beverly’s Secret Released 4/17/13

Beverly’s Secret released yesterday at Amazon, Barnes and Noble, All Romance Ebooks. All the big established e-book vendors.  I got word from my publisher that they’ve established agreements with Ibooks and Kobo as well. So my titles will eventually be listed there as well.

Most of you know I am on night shift. So, I promoted release day even as I was waking up. Which was followed by a message from a friend that “Beverly’s Secret” had already broken the top 100 at Amazon sitting at #92 on the Lesbian Romance list.

WOW! I hope everyone likes this fun lesbian contemporary romp.

I loved writing it.  And Makala’s recipe for Jambalaya that she cooked for Beverly is in the Rebel Ink Press cookbook project “Way to the Heart” A charitable donation will be made for every copy sold to Heifer International. @heifer  #rebelinkpress #charityproject #charitywork

What a great mother’s day present!
Now for “Beverly’s Secret”

Beverly Carter, clerk at Salynne’s Crystal’s and Thyme could have sworn she placed the amethyst necklace in the display cabinet. How did the gem end up in her pocket? She’d have to take it back to work in the morning and explain her mistake to the shop owner.

Trying the necklace on for just a moment couldn’t hurt anything. When the clasp won’t release she has to call on her next-door neighbor, Makala Reynaud for help. A woman that Beverly is very attracted to but hasn’t had the courage to approach. She hasn’t figured out how to confess her interest without outing herself prematurely. Bev’s pretty sure the woman is a lesbian too. What if she was wrong? So Beverly’s been stuck, just as stuck as the damn necklace.

Then, Makala’s red lips were just too tempting, too perfect, too close. Stealing a kiss could open a door to disaster instead of the closet on her sexual preference. Yet, the way Makala accepted the kiss and returned it with unabashed enthusiasm blew that door off its hinges.

They spent the night talking and exploring sex every way and everywhere possible in Makala’s small apartment. Beverly had to wonder if the rumors about the necklace were true. Was this some kind of spell that might only last the night?  Could this be the beginning of something magical?

Author Spotlight – Vivian Proud

A warm welcome to Vivian Proud for Author Spotlight. Vivian is signed with Rebel Ink Press and she is with us today promoting her debut book, “Anna and Don; Heart Body and Soul”

Vivian Proud 007

BIO:

Vivian Proud spent her 15-year career in Silicon Valley, CA writing technical and business proposals with her science degree. Always having a dream of moving to the mountains and writing a book, it never materialized until she moved to the rural Wild West. Living in the middle of nowhere in the Black Hills of Wyoming, she found the country lifestyle peaceful and uplifting and it spawned the creativity behind the writing of her first erotic romance: Anna and Don: Heart, Body and Soul. She is a wife, mother of one and lives on a small ranch in Wyoming with her husband, three dogs, two cats and four chickens.

1. Who is your favorite character in this book and why? My favorite character is Anna because she falls in love with and gets to make love to Don, who I adore, and she takes a leap of faith and it pays off, in spades.

2. What inspires you for your stories?  I vicariously live in my stories so I guess my fantasies inspire me.

3. Tell us something no one else knows about you.  I never read an erotic book until my husband bought me one last year!

4. What genre classification would you put on your book and what would you consider the heat level of the romance? It’s an erotic romance and the heat level is up to the reader and their experience. For example, my mother would be aghast but my friends would say, “Right on!”

5. When did you start writing and what kicked off your passion to be an author? I started writing last year because a friend of mine wrote erotica and it inspired me to try it and once I did, I was hooked.

AnnanDon_Cover0917

Anna and Don choose to have dinner together for Valentine’s Day on a lark given neither has a date and soon discover they have more in common as the sparks fly.  This touching love story spans their travels to Fisherman’s Wharf in San Francisco for a sizzling dinner and dessert; Sedona & Cave Creek, AZ, for spiritual vortexes and horseback riding; Las Vegas, NV, to live out one of Don’s life-long fantasies; Kona, HI for a trip to the Big Island Volcano; and Napa Valley, CA to visit wineries.

Soon Anna and Don become ensconced in a courtship that breeds passion, lust, sex and love.  Don struggles with expressing his love as he deals with the aftermath of a difficult divorce while Anna dives in headfirst.  As their intimacy grows, so does their love for each other and each of them find a very special way of expressing that love. In the end, Don and Anna find they’ve grown into each other’s heart, body and soul.

*****

Excerpt Set UP:

Don’s very thoughtful, especially when it comes to Anna. He keeps Anna on her toes with his surprises. In the first chapter, it’s Valentine’s Day. Anna and Don have dinner together as neither one of them have a date, but on both their minds is making dinner into a date and things begin to heat up. Don raises the bar with his idea of what to do with Valentine’s Day chocolates. Hand the box to her as is so often done? Or place them strategically on her body and eat them together? Better! Here’s the beginning of that scene…

Don reached inside his pants pocket and brought out a large fisted hand, holding something.

He told Anna, “Close your eyes.”

With her eyes closed, Don slowly and affectionately took off her skirt and panties. Then, as she was exposed except for her laced, thigh-high panty hose, he gently placed some things on her from her nose down to her toes.

He then whispered, “Open your eyes.”

She did and looked down her body.  Don had dotted Valentine’s Day chocolates in a line from her head to her toes.

He whispered again, “Sweeties for my sweetie.”

Anna giggled, taken a little aback by his comment. He had never called her sweetie before but tonight was becoming filled with firsts.

Then she added, “You’re going to eat them…I hope.”

“I’m going to eat them all.”

As Anna started laughing, her body began to pulsate from lusty expectations. Don took a bite of the chocolate on her nose then slid the rest into her voluptuous mouth with his. The sweet chocolate filled her mouth with melting pleasure. The candied temptation left her craving more.  He then alternated between chocolate, nose, chocolate, mouth, chocolate, neck, chocolate, breasts, chocolate, tummy, chocolate, pussy, chocolate, legs …

Through the ages food has been seen as a way to commune with others, bringing fellowship to the table while nourishing the body. Food is key in celebration and in honoring. It’s also been commonly widespread everything from asparagus to honey to chocolate and oysters hold aphrodisiacal properties. But we at Rebel Ink Press believe not only is food nourishment for the body and fuel for romance, cooking is one of the sexiest and most nurturing things one can do for another.

It’s the way to the heart.

Rebel Ink Press presents The Way to the Heart, a collection of recipes from twenty-six Rebel writers, our charitable project for 2013. For every copy sold a charitable donation will be made to help nurture families and communities around the world through Heifer International.

Thank you for your purchase. By opening your heart, you’ll find the way to someone else’s.

When you’re the last man standing…

Not only was Logan Delaney the last of his siblings to remain unmarried and unsettled, his entire family believed he’d never find a wife. The baby of eight, he’s been dubbed an irresponsible player and told he’ll never amount to a hill of beans. And at one time, Logan may have been okay with those descriptions, but no more. On a quest to prove his worth, he’s spent the entire summer learning the family business, staying in at night, and saving his money. And if his family would stop meddling in his affairs and trying to dictate who he should and shouldn’t be seeing, he might just show them he’s found the one, Lizzy Jenkins.

And have a bad reputation to blame…

Elizabeth Jenkins had always known Logan Delaney existed, but he’d never so much as turned one glance her way until she handed him his butt on a silver platter in three sentences or less over the phone. After that it seemed at every turn there he was and the more she resisted the heat building between them, the bigger the fire got. Until his family interfered. And why wouldn’t they? Between Logan’s legacy and her baggage, they were a disaster in the making.

Can you be trusted with a fragile heart?

But Logan doesn’t run when he finds out about Colby. In fact, he embraces Lizzy’s special needs son and defies the advice of everyone urging him to leave Lizzy alone. But after one moment of weakness, Logan finds himself knee deep in a marriage complete with the little boy whose father bailed before his birth and Lizzy’s grandfather, who needs constant care as well.  Then there’s the man who just might be the demise of it all.

I have Logan and Lizzy here to interview with me today.

So, Logan, I understand you were a bit of a player before the summer. What was a good Friday night out for you?

Well, you get straight to the point, huh? LOL Yes, being the youngest of my clan (I have 7 brothers and sisters) I was left to my own devices a bit too long I suppose. A good Friday night? Miss Eden, it was more like a good Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday…repeat. There were a few places I used to frequent regularly around Seaford, places where the ladies were abundant and the drinks even more so. And it was nothing for me to traipse up to Dover to gamble. Basically my wallet was always empty and my bed had a revolving door on it…until Lizzy chewed my ass royal one day over the phone. First time we met and last time I wanted anyone but her.

Then the summer and you buckled down to learn the family business. What was the most important lesson you gained from that experience?

Yes ma’am, summer happened and for a while we thought our entire family would fall apart with Dad so sick. And experience? I learned just how damn hard a man has to work to please everyone and has to do it most of the time with his tongue clamped between his teeth. I had no idea how hard my dad and brothers really were working and then taking care of a family on top of that? Yeah, not for sissies!

What was your first thought when Elizabeth set you down on the phone that day?

Well, to be honest, at that point my head wasn’t doing the thinking…Hell, sometimes it still doesn’t do the thinking where she’s concerned.

Well, well, well. Interesting stuff.

Elizabeth, I see that you are a caregiver with a lot of responsibilities on your shoulders. What do you do to reenergize yourself in order to be able to handle all that’s on your plate?

Well, I used to not do anything for myself. I just kept going like the Energizer bunny and hoped my ass didn’t pass me before the day was over. Now that I have Logan to depend on a little bit, I take more me time. Heck, a trip to the store without anyone in tow is a treat, but Logan makes sure I get more than that. Sometimes the men in this family send all the women on spa days which last all day long. Come to think of it, maybe those are really designed to reenergize themselves…**glares at Logan** Logan Delaney…

So, what is your greatest joy?

My son. Raising a special needs child has been rough, but I wouldn’t trade a minute of having Colby in my life for anything in the world. He sees life through the eyes of innocence and reminds me daily if I will too life is so much easier.

Tell us about one goal you have for the future.

Finish nursing school! I’m close…but there’s been lots of baby making practice which has become quite a hindrance to progress. 😉

Thanks, Eden for having us over today. Hope you enjoy the Guinness cakes Nana sent with us.

Thank you both for coming by. (opening Guinnes cakes) Ummm heavenly!

Excerpt:

With a mixture of emotions swirling through her, Lizzy watched the same storm overtake Logan’s features which was brewing inside her. A veritable lightning bolt passed between them as soon as he’d touched her. She knew she’d always been attracted to Logan, but the instant heat still scalding her skin from his fingers left her unsettled. It was but a mere couple of hours prior she was trying to convince herself she could do with some sort of quickie sexual gratification, although she’d admitted it could never be with Logan, and now she wanted nothing more and the door to her emotions was wide open leaving her vulnerable and believing maybe they could have both. And just as she was trying to tell herself to stop trusting the lies her deprived body was concocting, Logan decided to try to convince her he might be interested in more as well.

Where was Logan the player and who was the imposter sitting across the table from her who could probably talk her right into his bed with one sentence or less and keep her coming back heartbreak on the horizon or not?

As her pulse slowed a bit, she turned to look at Colby and reminded herself why she couldn’t be playing horizontal Twister with anyone let alone Logan. And she sure couldn’t go letting Colby think there was a reason to get too comfortable around him. He seemed to like Logan and the Delaney herd of kids and she didn’t want him getting his feelings hurt because she couldn’t control her hormonal urges. What if she made the mistake of screwing Logan’s brains out, things didn’t work out, and that made it awkward to be coming around anymore? This was the first time anyone had really taken them in and welcomed them unconditionally and she didn’t want to rob Colby of it.

Book blurb –

Jagged Little Edges. That’s how it had felt for her as long as she could remember. Like cuts, coming first in words as they tore little pieces of her innocence, trust and self worth, evolving into the physical form with a smack to the head, a cuff to the ear and at times, welts and bruises on her back side. By far the greatest damage of all was what couldn’t be seen. A soul torn asunder, left with an open wound, a vast emptiness and a hunger that screamed to be fed.

Lyndsey wanted nothing more than to be on her own. Problem was that’s what she’d been doing her entire life. She didn’t trust others and always held a piece of herself back. Lyndsey knew something was missing and she was determined to find it. Not comfortable in her own skin and trying to fill the vast emptiness, she stood on the edge.

Needing to belong to somebody, Lyndsey discovers love, the kind of love that’s sick and leaves her needing more. She’ll do anything for him and does. Lyndsey learns that love hurts, but still, she searches for her happy ending. Not able to find what she’s looking for in people, places or things, Lyndsey descends into a spiral of hopelessness.

This story follows a ten year journey on the need for love and leads readers through the depths of despair and addiction. It will move and inspire. It will leave readers on the edge of their seat wanting more…

Who is your favorite character in this book and why?

Lyndsey. Hands down. She’s a tough and gutsy survivor. One who shelters a warm and wounded heart. But don’t let the warm heart kid you. She can rip you to pieces with mere words. She’s my favorite because every once in awhile she drops her guard, letting you see into that warm heart. And then….. You really just want to give her a hug!

What inspires you for your stories? Life. Courage- shaking in its boots and going forward regardless. Being real. Taking off the masks we all wear. Hope. Always hope. People making great changes in their lives and helping others do the same. We all have a story. Inspiration can be found in every one.

Tell us something no one else knows about you. I shake it large when no one’s looking. I turn the music up and give it. I dance with complete abandon. I wish I could feel that relaxed with watchers. But I can’t. However, I’m a work in progress…… Get back to me on that one would you?

What genre classification would you put on your book and what would you consider the heat level of the romance? I’m not really sure what genre it falls into. More than one I think. Edgy fiction, graphic drug chronicling, laced with a heavy dose of inspiration. The heat level is low, but it’s there.  The next in the series, the heat level is definitely higher.

When did you start writing and what kicked off your passion to be an author? I’ve always used writing as a tool to scream. Words I’d never say aloud I’d write. But I never shared them with anyone. I’ve always wanted to write a book but never dared to. One day I dared. I was off from work sick. I still needed to find a way to reach people. I was too sick to go outside so I wrote from my home. I had time, something I usually didn’t have a lot of and just started. The words kept coming. So many words so many stories. I never realized how many stories and characters there were. It’s like they were sleeping somewhere deep inside, and I woke them up. The tables have turned however, now it’s their turn.

Author Spotlight – Welcome Joanne C. Berroa

Joanne was my guest back in December. I fell in love with her Time Travel Romance “My Life, My Heart”. She had a new book release on 02/03/13 and I invited her here today to tell us about the new story and a little bit more about herself.  Here’s Joanne:

For On Angels’ Wings:

1. For On Angels’ Wings: Lt. Johnny Morgan is my favorite character in this book. He’s daring and a risk taker. He’s not afraid to go over the top, thus his passion for flying fighter planes during WW II.  He loves deeply despite all odds. He’s the kind of man a woman would entrust with her heart.

2.  I get inspiration from imagining what type of man I would want to meet and ultimately marry. It’s fun to “create” life and take him from point A to point B.

3.  When I’m not writing (which is seldom) I teach piano and organ. I’ve been doing that for forty years.

4.  On Angels’ Wings is a WW II romance and a historical romance. Like my other novel, My Life, My Heart, the heat level is sensual and around 3.5.

5.  Two of my English teachers told me to make writing my life’s work. I won essay contests early on, but was always timid about reading my essays in front of the class. When I began writing full length romances, I’d make my mother read the chapters as I wrote them. She was hardly an unbiased critic, however, as she loved everything I wrote! That spurred me onward and I haven’t stopped putting out stories.

OnAngelsWings_Cover2

Blurb for On Angels’ Wings:

December 1940 found the world on the brink of a conflict greater than it had yet known, but for Anne Miller, USO band singer, the days before Pearl Harbor find her world full of excitement and promise. She had left the comfort of family and friends in Washington, DC to venture out into the distant and beautiful Hawaiian landscape to make a new life for herself and her fiancé, Corporal Daniel Beiler of the American Army forces.

Little did she know her perfect world was just an illusion. She didn’t expect to fall in love with a Navy pilot she’d meet at the USO dancehall on the eve of  “the day that will live in infamy.”  Her love for Daniel would be threatened while she fought with new and strange emotions for the brave and reckless Lieutenant Johnny Morgan.  How could she love both men, although quite differently, and remain true to either?  Will the outbreak of WWII tear their lives apart or pull them together in rain drenched islands in the South Pacific?

On Angels’ Wings is a story of desperation, hope, and fulfillment during the tumultuous years of World War II.

Author Spotlight – Lori Gordon

My guest today is Lori Gordon, a fellow Rebel Ink Press author. I wanted to get to know Lori, so asked her a few burning questions about her current work in progress and her writing inspirations.

Who is your favorite character in this book and why?

Tressina Night. Because instead of the villain being a man, she’s an evil old woman disguised as a loving Grandmother.

Oh Lori, I love that you’ve chosen a woman as the evil villain. Some of my favorite bad guys are women.

What inspires you for your stories?

My Contemporaries were inspired by real life events that I twisted into fiction, but The Lost Night Trilogy was inspired by my love of Star Wars.

I can’t wait to read the book and see that connection. I’m a Star Wars junkie too!

Tell us something no one else knows about you.

I played the Trombone in my Jr. High band.

Very Cool. I played Flute. I’d always wished I had been enough of a self advocate to say I want to play DRUMS! I basically got ‘assigned’ to play flute!

What genre classification would you put on your book and what would you consider the heat level of the romance?

Black Night is book one in a Young Adult Trilogy. It is a Romantic Adventure I would rate 2 on the heat scale.

Okay, young adult isn’t in competition for the hot tamale award. Sounds like it might be a 10 on the adventure scale!

When did you start writing and what kicked off your passion to be an author?

I started writing in 2006. Black Night was my very first manuscript. I wrote it when my best friend’s son asked me to write something for him to practice editing for college. He said I always had a story to tell and I should put some of them into writing. My best friend liked it so much I wrote two more, creating The Lost Night Trilogy.

That is a great story.

Excerpt

Marc walked me back to my room and leaned in to kiss me. I turned at the last minute so he only got the corner of my mouth. “Where are we headed?” I decided to ask.

“Oceania, of course.”

The food I’d just gorged on threatened to come up. I nodded. I’d heard of Oceania. It was the planet housing the famous Night Fortress. I should have made the connection earlier. I should have figured that’s where they’d take me. Silently, I berated myself. If I hoped to escape I needed to do a better job of concentrating.

Marc continued. “Grandmother has a place there. A place we’ll be safe to marry and raise our family.”

My heart skipped a beat. “Hold on. Did I miss the part where you asked me if I wanted to be your wife?”

Marc shrugged. “I love you. You love me. What else do we need?” He grinned wickedly and I realized I was about to be forced into becoming the trophy wife of Pirate Marc Jensen. The heir to my family’s worst enemy. He opened the door to what had become my room. “Sienna? You feel okay?” He put his hand to my forehead. “You look a bit pale.”

That gave me the excuse I needed to get away from him. For tonight anyway.

“Something I ate didn’t agree with me,” I lied. “Perhaps I should rest for a while.”

“Of course you should.” Marc pressed a small remote into my hand. “Page me if you need anything, anything at all.” He kissed me on the cheek. “We’ll be arriving on Oceania first thing in the morning.” Stepping out of the room, he added, “I love you, Sienna.”

When the door clicked shut, the tears came. I cursed myself for being such an idiot. My dad raised me better than this. The enemy should never have so easily distracted me even if he was an incredibly handsome enemy.
